Brazil’s immanent sugar crop

Speculation over the size of Brazil’s immanent sugar crop continues apace as Macquarie forecast the harvest to reach only 500 million tonnes , down 4% from its earlier forecast. The Australia based investment bank puts this down to aging cane profile and unusually dry weather – with key Centre-South regions receiving less than 50 percent of the average amount of rainfall in February and March this year at a crucial time for cane development.
