Vietnam pepper prices were easier today, according to an overseas report. The prices quoted fob HCMC prompt shipment with $50 per tonne premium for May shipment, were: faq min 500 G/L…$6,350; faq min 550 G/L $6,650; Asta min 570 G/L $6,900 and white double washed $9,375 tonnes.
Brazil B1 560 G/L…$ 6,800 a tonne (fob) Belem May shipment; Brazil Asta at $7,000 - $7,100 a tonne (fob).
Lampong ASTA was quoted in the $ 7200/7250 (fob). Shippers are said to be waiting for new crop arrivals in June/July.

37% of the world supply of crude palm oil is accounted from Indonesia. Both Malaysia and Indonesia`s Free on Board prices are taken as a benchmark in calculating International Crude Palm oil prices. Hence, any such threats are expected to impact export from such countries that might threaten supply. Indian futures contracts of Crude Palm Oil have a direct correlation with Malaysian prices. Crude Palm oil prices have been surging for the last few months on expectations of lower soybean production. In the month of March, exports from Malaysia rose to 4.8% compared to February. Currently, Malaysian palm oil futures are trading near a 13 month high. On NCDEX platform, prices have been on a gush clocking more than 19% since the first week of February.

The FAO cut its estimate for world cereal production in 2011 slightly to a still record 2.343 billion tonnes, down from an earlier estimate 2.344 billion tonnes. It confirmed an earlier forecast for world wheat output to fall 1.4 percent from last year's record crop to 690 million tonnes in 2012.

Speculation over the size of Brazil’s immanent sugar crop continues apace as Macquarie forecast the harvest to reach only 500 million tonnes
, down 4% from its earlier forecast. The Australia based investment
bank puts this down to aging cane profile and unusually dry weather –
with key Centre-South regions receiving less than 50 percent of the
average amount of rainfall in February and March this year at a crucial
time for cane development.
